<image:caption>Christine Lee & I co-directed this video in 2003 for NIH/NAACP/Los Angeles HIV Prevention Trials Unit (LAHPTU) to increase awareness of the impact of HIV/AIDS in the African American community and to promote a call to action for women to prioritize themselves, especially when AIDS rates are 20 times higher for African American women. “African American women are among the greatest risk populations for HIV/AIDS,” said NAACP Health Committee Chairwoman Rupert Richardson. “The Women Like You program shows what a meaningful, sustained partnership can do to engage people at risk in early testing and prevention through compelling education and dialogue." The program is still being used across the country in schools, hospitals, community centers, beauty parlors, homes, anywhere women could come together and empower themselves against this deadly disease. WOMEN LIKE YOU earned Pfizer several awards including: Winner - Corporate Social Responsibility Award Community Affairs PR News CSR Awards March 2004 Recognizes leadership in developing innovative corporate social-outreach programs. Crystal Obelisk for Social Responsibility Foundation of Women Executives in Public Relations November 2005 The Foundation of WEPR created the PRism AwardTM in 2002 to promote the role of strategic communications in raising awareness of and addressing social needs. Symbolic of a multi-faceted prism, the award honors companies that have a history of supporting multiple creative and responsible outreach programs and policies that serve to better society.</image:caption>

      <image:title>OXFAM/VANITY FAIR - I Hear You - SIZZLE REEL (2016)</image:title>
<image:caption>The thought behind the project was people are so tuned out to refugees, how do you make people hear their stories, see them as real people not as something "other"? By interviewing refugees and finding their most relatable moments of birthday parties and barbecues and wanting the best for their kids, and then having them voiced by actors you know and love, it provides the "thin end of the wedge" to getting someone to lower their prejudices and connect with someone very much like themselves. Some videos were hand picked by Vanity Fair and featured on their site. All the stories are on the Oxfam International/America sites. Select pieces were translated into different languages and shown on the different regional Oxfam sites. It is Oxfam's most successful campaign to date. Executive Producer/Director/Writer: Julie Anne Robinson (The Middle, Selfie, Grey's Anatomy) Co-Producer/Writer: Debra Matlock Editor: Brad Grossman (Chef's Table, CNN The 90s)</image:caption>

      <image:title>OXFAM/VANITY FAIR - Margot Robbie - LAW STUDENT</image:title>
<image:caption>Margot (SUICIDE SQUAD, I TONYA, WOLF OF WALL STREET) tells about being a law student and having leave everything behind. Robbie shares the story of a 17-year-old girl, who dreamed of going to law school but had to pack away her books and assignments after her college was bombed. “I want to defend the oppressed,” Robbie reads. The young girl, who had to escape her home for fear of being in danger, says she even misses the strict, mean English teacher in school: “After all, if she didn’t care about my education, she wouldn’t be so mean, right?” The girl says that while she never saw any women who were lawyers in her town, she knew, without a doubt that this was and still is her goal: “It is having no education that is very hard for me. I really would have liked to have continued my studies.”</image:caption>

Now, she has to watch her smart children live daily without the chance to get an education in the camp. “I love my kids so much; they deserve better than this.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>OXFAM/VANITY FAIR - Gael Garcia Bernal - POET</image:title>
<image:caption>Gael (MOZART IN THE JUNGLE, Y TU MAMA TAMBIEN) reads the account of a poet, now a refugee, who had a crush on a woman in his class. He wrote poetry for her but never told her. Once the two finally expressed their feelings for each other—with a few miscommunications in between—it became clear that the two, coming from different worlds, could never be a couple. “Most of the time, I let my mind roam,” he said. “Sometimes the mind can function, and it’s the heart that takes over. Some things belong to the heart.”</image:caption>

<image:caption>“We have nothing—no books, or pens, or papers for the kids, so I’ve developed my own way of teaching; I had to do it,” John (STAR TREK, HAROLD & KUMAR) reads of the story of a young teacher who still works to deliver lessons to his students in the refugee camps. He remembers a life in Syria where they had houses, hospitals, and schools. He dreams of a life once they return—a better life. “Even though you find us sitting on the floor, we are not like this. This is not us—to live in tents.”</image:caption>

      <image:title>OXFAM/VANITY FAIR - Anna Camp - SURVIVOR</image:title>
<image:caption>“On our marriage day, I had a very beautiful wedding dress,” Anna (PITCH PERFECT, TRUE BLOOD) opens as she read the story of a woman whose husband died seven months after her wedding day. While living in a refugee camp, the woman had a dress made out of fabric she bought with her earnings as a wash coordinator. But even her dress is not her most favorite possession—on the very top is her jerry can for clean water. “Keeps your water safe and clean. You won’t be alive to wear a pretty dress if you don’t have clean water.”</image:caption>

She tells her story, shellshocked in a dusty tent in a refugee camp, having sold the last of her jewelry to pay for medical treatments for one of her kids. She's gone from having everything to nothing, confronted with the banality of her prior existence.</image:caption>

<image:caption>"GANGSTA WAGNER" was created as part of the 2010 Ring Festival LA. It was commissioned by Grand Performances and LA Opera. Produced by GG, performed by daKAH Hip Hop Orchestra. In WWII, Wagner's music was Hitler's gangsta rap. The album concept was to embrace the sinister sounds of Richard Wagner's Ring Cycle, and combine it with the hard sound of early 1990s rap music. The imagery (using photographs, stencils, spray paint and finally photoshop) was used on advertising and for the CD packaging.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Reversion Directed by Mia Trachinger. Premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Created opening titles, posters and promotional materials. Los Angeles. A swath of humanity is afflicted by a genetic mutation that prevents them from delineating time: the past, present, and future unfold simultaneously. The result is a savage, fractured society in which the genetic mutants possess no moral values. There are no consequences to their actions; free will is an illusion.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Photographer Rohina Hoffman photographed women aged 14-100 in their homes, interviewing them first starting with the innocuous sentence: "Tell me about your hair..." the stories that emerged were startling, moving and relatable. Even if you don't "do" your hair, that still says something about you. Interviewed before the completion of HAIR STORIES. I shot and cut this behind the scenes look at a Hoffman's process. <image:caption>Sweet Ride USA is a web series that combines the hedonistic pleasure of searching for desserts with the fun of riding bikes with friends. On a shoestring budget, I produced, directed, and edited the show with longtime friend and collaborator Steve Isaacs (executive producer and host.) We produced five episodes and are currently looking to bring it to television. Shot in a documentary style, Steve and his friends go on a bike ride that not only sees parts of the city you would never discover by car but indulges in some delicious treats along the way. The best part? The ride burns off all the calories consumed. <image:title>PAST WORKS: Videos - ENTRY N°20 (2012)</image:title>
<image:caption>ENTRY N°20, based on author Jonathan Lethem’s short story “Entry of Buildings” is equal parts micro-documentary, visual poem, and dreamy investigation into what it is to enter one of the World’s Tallest Buildings. Part of the Promiscuous Stories project, where author Lethem allows multiple versions of a small collection of his short stories. I deviated from the script, becoming the main character who wishes to visit all of the buildings that were ever "World's Tallest." This episode is Number 20, because the Empire State Building was the 20th building to be named that. I plan to do more as budget allows.</image:caption>

I was invited to travel with the orchestra by filmmaker Christine Lee and conductor Geoff "Double G" Gallegos from LA 2 the Bay on a redeye bus ride to capture the trip. Organize the Team is based on Schoenberg's String Quartet #1. If you're wondering, Sol Food is a Puerto Rican restaurant in San Rafael that sponsored a lot of the cost for the band to travel to the film festival. In return we ate there MANY times. SO GOOD. <image:caption>24”x36” Acrylic on canvas The Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery’s theme of Offal for their 2019 show, reminded me of the time I got to see my own innards, during my c-section. The doctor asked if I wanted to see the birth of my son and I replied "no, thank you" but he automatically wheeled up a mirror so I could see beyond the curtain. After they removed my son from my belly, I mistakenly looked back into the mirror. It looked like a kitchen sink full of blood and unknown shapes. Depicted is the moment where the doctor was pushing on my stomach with his fist, while the other doctor wrenched my 10lb son out of the incision. The painting is unfinished as of yet, but I plan to continue working on the baby, hands and belly and leave the rest close to how you see, since the baby isn't completely finished being born yet either.</image:caption>

<image:caption>When I originally pitched this idea to friends, they poopooed it saying, "well, in November (2016) this will all be over and it will seem dated." We all know how that turned out... [insert kooky montage of creating clever protest signs, knitting pussy hats, getting involved in local politics, spending waaaaaaaay too long on Twitter and going down the rabbit hole of monitoring oligarchs' private jet tail numbers....] In February 2018, a friend said "what ever happened to that octopus idea? You should do that." Originally it was an animated series that I planned on writing and having other people illustrate. But you know how it is, it's hard enough to work on your own vanity project, let alone someone else's. So in the immortal words of someone I can no longer remember "sometimes magic happens when you say: Fuck it." So...fuck it. I drew it myself. You can see the entire season from the April Fool’s Day launch with Episode 1 “The Arrival” to Episode 32 “Are You Fucking Kidding Me?” which ended the season at the Midterm Elections.</image:caption>
